Day 5 of my 75 Soft challenge came with something I had been both anticipating and slightly dreading — my weekly weigh-in.
If I’m being honest, it wasn’t the number I was hoping to see.
And while a tiny part of me felt disappointed at first, I had to remind myself of something important: my body is currently doing a lot behind the scenes. I’m on my period this week, which means bloating, water retention, and hormones running the show. None of those things exactly make the scale my best friend.
But here’s the thing about this journey — it’s not just about the number.
This week I stayed consistent with my walks, stuck to my routine, and kept showing up for myself even on the days when my energy was low and my body felt heavy. If you’ve ever been on your period, you know the struggle. The bloating alone can make you feel like you’ve gained five pounds overnight, even when you know it’s temporary.
Instead of letting the scale ruin my motivation, I’m choosing to look at the bigger picture.
75 Soft is about building sustainable habits. It’s about consistency, not perfection. And real life includes hormonal weeks, tired days, and moments when progress doesn’t look the way we want it to.
The truth is, my body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do right now. The bloating will go down. The water weight will shift. And the scale will eventually catch up with the work I’m putting in.
For now, I’m focusing on what actually matters:
Showing up tomorrow.
Another walk.
Another day of sticking to my goals.
Another step forward — even if the scale doesn’t show it yet.
So Day 5 may not have given me the weigh-in victory I hoped for, but it did give me something better: proof that I’m learning to keep going even when progress isn’t perfectly visible.
And honestly? That might be the biggest win of all.
On to Day 6.
